Our Favorite Fireplaces in Paso Robles

December 27, 2022

In Paso Wine Country we celebrate rainy and chilly days, in fact, it’s another excuse to get out and go wine tasting. Many wineries have spectacular fireplaces that make the tasting experience even more memorable. Here are a few of our favorites.

Castoro Cellars

Nestled just inside the Castoro Cellars tasting room sits a massive rustic stone hearth wood-burning fireplace. Enjoy a cozy glass of organically grown red wine while sipping and savoring the homey atmosphere and conversing with friends and family. Castoro Cellars currently has over 1,400 acres of Estate vineyards that are 100% certified organic by CCOF. All of the vineyards are also SIP Certified, which stands for sustainability in practice. Sustainable farming and wine-making have been at the forefront of Castoro’s mission since its inception. Castoro is also home to one of the largest solar arrays in Paso Robles. Beyond the wine, Castoro features live music year-round, Yoga Brunch classes, an 18-hole disc golf course, and the annual Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival every September.

Eberle Winery

In 1982 when Gary Eberle built the legendary Eberle Winery, he wanted to have a centerpiece fireplace for ambiance and gathering.  Now, after more than 40 years, Eberle’s fireplace represents one of the coziest places to sit, while enjoying a taste of Cabernet. During the holidays, right beside the fireplace, you will find a beautifully decorated Christmas tree surrounded by a Christmas village along with one of Gary Eberle’s other passions, his train.  Throughout the cold winter days, you will often find Gary seated by the fireplace visiting with guests while enjoying our wines. It is truly a centerpiece of the Eberle tasting room.

P.S.  The employees know the rules; keep the firewood coming and the fireplace lit!

Serial Wines

On a brisk afternoon or evening in downtown Paso Robles, there’s no better place to enjoy a glass by the fire than the Serial Tasting Lounge. Uniquely open until midnight on Thursdays through Saturdays, the Serial Tasting Lounge is your perfect place to get cozy before or after dinner alongside one of our two indoor-outdoor fire pits. The comfortable lounge seating allows your group to gather around in warmth, style, and luxury, with views of bustling Park Street amid the mystical ambiance of the tasting lounge. Order a glass, share a bottle or choose from among our curated tasting flights, all designed to explore the special terroirs and distinct diversity of Paso Robles. The moment you walk through the door, the fire pits beckon you to settle in and stay awhile—only at the stunning new Serial Tasting Lounge, a USA Today 10Best New Winery of 2022.

Graveyard Vineyards

Sitting on a hilltop, next to a historic 1865 graveyard,  on the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail, where the sky is big, the sun is warm, and the rolling vineyards are lush, is the small family winery of Graveyard Vineyards. The impressive two-story tall stone fireplace is a statement piece with its wood-burning aromas you can smell the moment you step out of your car. Once inside, the leather chairs near the fireplace invite you to sit down with a glass of our rich flavorful wines and enjoy your experience in our cozy home atmosphere. Our gold medal wines are sold only at the Graveyard tasting rooms in Paso Robles, CA and in Dripping Springs, TX.

Shale Oak Winery

Shale Oak Winery is a premier winery destination that is centered around crafting world-class wines with sustainability at the forefront of everything they do. Nestled in the heart of highway 46 west they specialize in Paso-centric blends. Opened in 2011, their modern tasting room facility was built with sustainability in mind. They take pride in their facility receiving Gold Leed Certification and their vineyard practices SIP Certified. Cozy up by their suspended, retro-style fire-orb fireplace that is directly in front of a beautiful stained-glass window that illuminates the surrounding vineyards. It’s the perfect way to stay warm during the cold winter months.

Bianchi Winery

The welcoming Bianchi tasting room is an architectural feast for the senses, blending modern elements – glass features, contemporary lighting, and clean lines – with natural earthen materials like wood, stone, and metal. An impressive stone fireplace warms the tasting room in the winter and is the ideal spot to enjoy Bianchi’s outstanding wines. Take a seat on one of the leather sofas and enjoy sprawling views of the koi-filled lake and sweeping vineyard views.

Croad Vineyards

Enjoy Croad Vineyards’ stunning winery with majestic views overlooking beautiful west-side vineyards. The picturesque estate offers guests a warm tasting room experience, and two separate lodging options; The Inn and The Ranch House. Multiple inviting fireplaces grace the property indoors and out, all in theme with the Spanish-mission style architecture plus the dry-farmed estate Zinfandel and Rhone blends are sure to satisfy your palate.

DAOU Family Estates

Experience DAOU at the mountaintop estate, that rises from the heart of the rugged coastal range west of Paso Robles. Guests will enjoy an above-the-clouds view where you can create your own curated itinerary, from tasting flights to wine pairings featuring fresh, seasonal cuisine. Stroll the impressive grounds and savor the panoramic ambiance of the estate vineyard and olive groves. The remarkable tasting room and extraordinary flickering fireplace is an homage to the family’s heritage; a mix of the warm Spanish Hacienda with the colors of the South of France.

Niner Wine Estates

Home to the iconic Heart Hill, this sustainable family winery crafts estate-grown, highly acclaimed wines, and offers a variety of unique experiences to please everyone. Both the tasting room and the award-winning farm-to-table restaurant showcase the best of Paso Robles. Upon entering Niner you’ll be greeted by the grand double-sided stone fireplace that warms the ambiance in both the tasting room and the restaurant.

Pear Valley Vineyard & Winery

The open and inviting space of the Pear Valley tasting room is surrounded by rolling vineyards and 360-degree views of the countryside with seriously good wines. Their slogan, “everything in life is better when shared”, is evident throughout the estate. Guests are encouraged to bring friends and cozy up to the two impressive stone fireplaces adorned with hand-carved mantels that during the holidays display miniature Christmas villages.

Sextant Wines

Sextant is set among the stunning views of Paso’s countryside on scenic 46 West. Framed by a limestone arch, the stones sourced from the property itself, and surrounded by oaks, the estate tasting room serves a curated selection of small-production wines. Inside the stone arches, the modern fireplace covered in hand-carved Ambra limestone anchors the contemporary tasting room. Tastings can be enjoyed throughout the property, but one of the best places to explore the bold wines is fireside.

Vina Robles Vineyard & Winery

Vina Robles’ breathtaking grounds and tasting room is a must-visit while in Paso Robles wine country. They create expressive and approachable estate wines from Paso. First-class hospitality service is offered by way of unique, memorable experiences with wine, food, and music at their core. Inside, a warm-up to the massive floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace creates a dramatic focal point and complements the European style and stellar wines.
