Position Details
• Cleaning and sanitation in all areas (facility and equipment)

Qualifications

Scope: The Intern Lab Tech is responsible for the collection and processing of vineyard samples, collection and analysis of fermentations, cleanliness of lab and proper use of lab equipment. During the harvest season, this position may require working outside, early mornings, nights, weekends, extended hours and work in the cellar. The ability to work flexible hours is required.
Responsibilities:
• Collects samples from tanks during fermentation
• Start of day/end of day procedures on all lab equipment.
• Be knowledgeable in and apply all standard operating procedures.
• Keeps Lab clean & Organized work space
• Using safe practices when working with Lab and Cellar chemicals
• Understanding and using the PPE (personal protective equipment)
• May require lifting of 50+ lbs.

Qualifications:

The position will start in mid-May, continue through November at a minimum and be split into two parts; The first half will be lab tech during the busy bottling season and the second half will be a combined harvest lab tech and cellar intern. This is an excellent opportunity to gain diverse hands-on experience and work closely with the winemakers and enologist as an integral member of a small team.

Laboratory Job Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis on wine and juice including Bx, FS, TS, Alc, TA, pH, ML, RS and VA and notify the winemaking team of any unexpected results
- Use and troubleshoot lab instruments including pH meter, densitometer, spectrophotometer and ebulliometer.
- Enter completed work orders and analysis results into the winemaking database
- Process and analyze vineyard samples
- Monitor fermentations (brix, temp, sensory analysis)
- Confirm that legal bottling requirements are met both prior to and during bottling

Cellar Job Responsibilities:
- Perform harvest tasks including pump overs, punch downs, inoculations, chemical additions, racking, barrel downs, and cleaning and sanitizing
- Read, follow and complete written work orders
- Assist with winery events
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience. College-level chemistry is acceptable.
- Be available to work 6 days/week, weekends, overtime and holidays during the harvest season
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, repeatedly walk up and down stairs, climb a ladder, stand for extended periods of time and work in fluctuating temperatures

Attentively take beverage orders from guests and servers, efficiently preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Tetto recipes and policies.

Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to:
-All aspects of winery work (i.e., topping, racking, punch downs, pump overs, crushing, pressing, fermentation monitoring and wine analysis)
-Data entry in winemaking software Innovint
-Occasional grape sampling
-Clean and sanitize all areas (facility and equipment)
-General cleanup and organization
-Equipment set-up, operation and maintenance
-Uphold all SOPs for equipment operations and sanitary practices
-Observe safe cellar practices
-Frequent standing, walking, climbing up/down stairs, ladder use and heavy lifting
-Host on and off premise tastings

Qualifications
-Winemaking degree preferred but not required
-Minimum 2 years cellar experience without a degree in winemaking
-Knowledge of wine analysis procedures
-21 years of age or older
-Valid driver’s license
-Ability to supervise and manage others
-Forklift experience
-Ability to speak, read and write English
-Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
