MCV Wines is seeking a Wine Demi-God in the making for a harvest internship that tentatively runs from late August through mid-November. This position will cover some of everything working at a smaller winery entails. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with the owner and winemaker, the production staff and the sales team. You’ll work making MCV’s wines as well as wine for up to 15 different wineries, learning all the different styles of each unique brand. MCV has been producing High scoring, quality driven Petite Sirah and Unique Blends for 13 years, sourcing from vineyards all over the Paso Robles AVA.
The Fun Stuff:
- Staff lunch every Friday and grazing items through harvest, plus periodic other meals
- Staff tastings of wine flights for education.
- Team building emphasis.
- Harvest and MCV swag and wine allocation
The Mostly Fun Stuff (Duties and Responsibilities):
- Become intimately acquainted with the processing and sorting equipment while cleaning it and running it.
- Daily mixing of the fermentations and checking Brix and Temperature
- Learn the ins and outs of a basket press.
- Make additions to the wine, especially in regard to inoculations (yeast will become your friend).
- Lots and lots of cleaning.
- Forklift Training and Certification
- You’ll work some events, haul some cases and organize case goods storage.
- There might even be a bit of vineyard work thrown in to change it up.
- But mostly you’re going to be both hot and cold (possibly at the same time), wet, sticky, dry and exhausted.

We are on the west side of Paso Robles in the Adelaida District and are focused on Rhone-centric blends that come from our estate grown, dry-farmed and organic vineyard. Small production, handcrafted wines of the highest quality is our only focus, and we're looking for a teammate who is excited to learn what it takes to make it happen.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, vineyard sampling, help with harvesting. pump-overs, punch-downs, delestage, sorting fruit, light lab duty (pH, TA, brix and temp), digging out tanks, barrel work, and lots of cleaning/sanitizing.
Harvest hours can be long. Although we will try to maintain 40 hour weeks, harvest days can happen any day of the week, so you’ll need to be available on short notice. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, the ability to pay attention to detail, and be able to lift 50 pounds.
The starting date will be from mid-August, into November. Prior harvest experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

GENERAL

THE OPPORTUNITY
ONX Wines is hiring a part-time Wine Educator to join our team. This role is for an enthusiastic and friendly individual who can lead guests through seated tastings at our tasting room in Tin City and, as scheduled, private tours of our estate vineyard in Templeton.
- Provide high-level hospitality and lead guests through a memorable, personalized experience by getting to know each customer and educating them about the wine, vineyards, and history of ONX.
- Connect and build relationships with our customers in person, on the phone, and by email, with the goal of expanding the ONX community by turning them into long-term customers.
- Host tasting room visits, reserve tastings, and any other experiences that might be created for the tasting room.
- Host vineyard tours and large group tastings at the vineyard, as scheduled.
- Execute private virtual tastings or corporate virtual tastings with the ONX at Home Department, as scheduled.
Within 1 month, you will:
- Have met with department heads to learn about ONX as a whole. This includes the Winemaker, the Wine Club & Shipping Manager, the ONX at Home Director, the Vineyard Experience & Event Manager, and the Innkeeper.
- Be confident leading guests through a seated tasting at the tasting room, operating the POS system for wine purchases, and booking experience reservations in the reservation system.
Within 3 months, you will:
- Be proficient and comfortable completing the tasting room’s opening and closing procedures.
- Have shadowed and trained on the vineyard tour and large group tastings, and be comfortable setting up the vineyard and conducting tours and large group tastings for customers.
- Know and understand all of the Collective Club benefits and how to explain and apply them to customers and club members.
- Be confident informing customers about the experiences ONX offers: tasting room experiences, vineyard tours and other vineyard experiences, ONX at Home tastings, vineyard stays (house rentals).
- Have completed the following required trainings: ServSafe training (food handler certification), Sexual Harassment training, and Responsible Alcohol training.
Within 6 to 12 months, you will:
- Have expanded your wine and vineyard knowledge through team education, tastings, and other opportunities.

This is a full-time position, some of which can be done remotely, and hours may increase/decrease seasonally. Our regular menu tastings are available Friday-Sunday, so working those days is required. We can be flexible with schedules, but with a small staff, reliability is extremely important.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and will be salaried. Tips are additional, and since our success is your success, bonuses will also add to your compensation.
Some of your duties will include:
• Be an expert on our wines, our organic approach and story

Our production team is seeking a Cellar Supervisor! The Cellar Supervisor acts as a team leader while supervising and/or performing various work assignments in the cellar including bottling, racking, transferring, filtering, crushing, pressing, and other production-related activities. You will be responsible for the maintenance of forklifts, filters, pumps, presses, hoses, and other cellar equipment. We are looking for someone who is experienced in all aspects of the wine process from grape to bottle and can direct less experienced crew members. A successful candidate in this position is a self-starter who is hard-working, detail-oriented, and a team player with strong organizational skills.
This is an on-site position based in Paso Robles, CA and the work schedule is Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm) with the exception of harvest season, when overtime and weekend work may be required.
Job Description
- Assist in managing daily supervision of the cellar staff to ensure a safe, efficient and productive work environment
- Adhere to and instruct cellar staff to follow established company food safety and good manufacturing practices

Grower Relations Harvest Intern

The Grower Relations Harvest Intern will have the opportunity to work directly with the Grower Relations team and in the winery cellar. The position starts with field data collection for crop estimates; assistance with sugar sampling leading up to harvest will also be of primary focus. Job Description
Grower Relations Responsibilities:
- Seasonal vineyard operations and extensive data collection including: cluster counting for crop forecasting, vineyard monitoring, pest scouting, and phenological data tracking
- Sugar sampling both berries and clusters for grape maturity and phenolics.
- Ability to utilize and operate tools and equipment used in agricultural applications including an RTV/ATV and hand tools
- Assist in running lab analysis: brix, pH and TA
Cellar Responsibilities:
- Transition to the cellar will occur in September and be 6 days/week and up to 12-hour days
- Prep for Harvest: working with chemicals, pumps and hoses to sanitize tanks, bins and other equipment used for wine work, etc
- Harvest Assistance: performing punch downs, pump-overs, ingredient additions, helping out with processing and wine transfers
- Barrel Work: receiving and labelling new barrels, barrel maintenance and assisting with topping of barrels
Qualifications
- Possessing a Degree (or currently enrolled) in an Agriculture or Wine & Viticulture program is preferred; harvest and wine industry experience is recommended
- Willingness to take time off from school during the duration of the internship is required. This includes online courses
- Possess a positive attitude; strong communication skills, detail-oriented and comfortable working alone as well as effectively with others

CELLAR TECHNICIAN III
Job Summary:
The Cellar Technician III is responsible for wine movement to and from various tanks and blending wine types. Will ensure quality standards are followed in all aspects of cellar work. Ideal candidates will have cellar or manual labor experience involving consistent heavy lifting. Forklift experience is a plus. Must be flexible to work weekends and on shifts (day, swing) during harvest season.
Essential Functions:
• Performs all aspects of cellar work, including but not limited to racking, pumping, clarifying, blending of juice and wine, barrel washing, and barrel stacking.
• Operates and maintains cellar and harvest equipment, such as filters, pumps, presses, crushers, and hoses.
• Cleans and sanitizes all cellar and bottling equipment; maintains knowledge of all wine pumps and harvest equipment and how it works.
• Repeatedly climb 40 feet tank stairs/vertical tank ladders, enter tanks through the manhole and perform all functions of the Cellar Technician classification, including proper sanitation techniques.

Caliza Winery is a small, premium, estate driven brand producing mostly Rhone varieties but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, and Primitivo from our 28 acre vineyard in the Paso Robles Willow Creek District. This is a seasonal position from approximately Mid-August through Mid-November.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Cleaning and sanitization of barrels, winemaking equipment, and facilities
• Fruit sorting and processing
• Fermentation management ranging through inoculation, racking, sampling, variety of cap management techniques, additions, and more.
• Draining and digging out tanks

• Sensory analysis and tasting from juice to finished wines and everything in between

Description: The ideal candidate will have a naturally happy disposition and can provide enthusiastic and exceptional customer service while pouring wines and educating guests on our history, philanthropy, and culture. Passion for and basic knowledge of wine is preferred but we are willing to train! Proven abilities in sales and customer service within a fast-paced environment are requested. We currently have Part Time and Full Time positions open. We are open 7 days a week during the day.
Responsibilities:
• Greet every customer with a smile and inviting welcome
• Effectively advise and sell wines to guests who order at our counter and for Tastings and extensive Gift Shop
• Ability to answer questions and make recommendations regarding our wine and food menu
• Handle routine point of sale transactions
• Maintain and uphold brand standards for keeping the bar, restaurant, patio, private dining rooms
• Properly open and pour wine and tasting flights at the counter and tables
• Maintain basic cleaning practices
• Work effectively with teammates during daily duties and operations.
• Ability to follow policies and procedures
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 21 years of age due to government regulations.
• Knowledge of wine or ability to learn about our wines that can be communicated to our guests; Willing to train the right person.
• Food & Wine knowledge a plus.
• Experience or willingness to learn sales, customer service and confident interaction with the diverse public.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Outstanding verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
• High energy and ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Familiarity with or able to learn operation of POS systems
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects with little direction
• Basic computer and math skills are required
• Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Available to work weekends and Holidays
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or Italian) a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
• Competitive Salary of $18.00-$21.00 based on experience along with gratuity from customers.

About the Bar Back Position:
This position is a utility role adaptable to meet the needs of our guests. It includes assisting with all functions of the guest experience.
Hours are typically 10:00 am - 6 pm. Event coverage and weekends are required of all Tasting Room staff. The ability to be on-call for emergencies is appreciated.
We are looking for the right candidates to add to the modern, professional atmosphere we are building in our Tasting Room. We are a close-knit team so the ability to work well with others is crucial.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure public areas are clean and free of debris and safety hazards.
• Assist customers with carrying their wine purchases to their vehicle.
• Greet guests as they arrive
• Be available and adaptable to assist the Tasting Room Managers as required, including running bottles of wine and food items to guests.
• Clear and empty trash from public areas in the Tasting Room, new hospitality areas, and parking lot areas.
• Stock inventory, including wine as directed.
• Stock tasting stations as needed throughout the day with ice, water, wine, and other resources.
• Washing and polishing glassware, silverware, and plates.
• Sweep, mop, and other general cleaning duties as assigned.
Qualities and Abilities:
• Warm and friendly, outgoing, professional, reliable, and trustworthy with a focus on excellence and customer service
• Remain standing and actively working for up to 8 hours.
• Work requires walking up and down stairs to various wine tasting locations.
• Able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Compensation:
• Hourly Pay Rate of $16.00 - $17.00 Depending on Experience
• Shared Gratuity
• Wine Club Commissions (if you sign up on your own)

About the Position:
We are looking for the right candidates to add to the modern, professional atmosphere we are building in our Tasting Room. We are a close-knit team so the ability to work well with others is crucial.

• Conduct Wine Tastings.
• Educate and promote our wines, Wine Club, and the Paso Robles region.
• Consistently demonstrate a friendly, professional attitude.
• Be extra vigilant for underage customers; asking for ID consistently.
• Identifying and acknowledging Wine Club Members, making them feel welcome and special.
• Keeping Tasting Room space clean and organized
• Maintaining professional personal conduct and appearance inside the workplace and industry-related events
Qualities and Abilities:
• Must be passionate about wine and have experience in a Tasting Room or similar customer service environment, with a strong focus on sales skills.
