POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tasting Room Associate is responsible for all Tasting Room operations, including providing exceptional customer service, selling wine and memberships in the Wine Club, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Responsibilities also include assisting with events, display and sale of merchandise, and communicating Mitchella’s history and brand message. This is an hourly part-time or full time position requiring the ability to work weekends and holidays, as well as flexibility of scheduling to meet business needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Tasting Room Operation
- Handle customer relations within the tasting room; help resolve customer concerns or complaints.
- Maintain and regularly update paper and electronic records of customer information.
- Tasting Room Operation including opening and closing, keeping wine stocked, and shipping. This includes performing various housekeeping duties to maintain the cleanliness of the facility, including sweeping floors, checking the bathroom, emptying trash cans, and checking for abandoned trash or glasses.
- Answering Phone Calls & Email correspondence. Document all outbound and inbound call and e-mail activity.
- Complete transactions in point of sale system, including wine club, cash and credit transactions.
- Create and maintain cheese and food platters for guests.
- Effectively sell wine and club memberships.
- Ensure all signage and informational material is available.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist customers with the carry out of purchases to their vehicles when necessary.
- Provide general tourist information.
- Wash and polish glassware for Tasting Room.
- Know how to keep busy when pouring slows.
- Maintain daily records of wine poured and food sampled.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures, including daily restocking of all wines, merchandise, promotional materials and packaging materials.

- Pour wine and educate the customer on Mitchella’s history and wines.
- Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of Mitchella Vineyards and its wines as well as the local wine region.
- Maintain a friendly, warm and clean tasting room environment inside and out.
- Assist in executing events and group tasting visits.
- Assist with Merchandise pricing and display.
- Proactively identify opportunities/challenges and devises methods to improve operations, efficiency and hospitality levels to retail customers; in other words, not only identifying problems but being a solution finder.
- Follow prevailing Federal and State alcohol laws.
- Notify Tasting Room Manager or Designee of needed tasting room supplies.
- Attend any onsite and offsite educational training seminars as requested.
- Occasionally represent Mitchella Vineyards in local offsite pouring events.
- Assist with special projects, promotions and other responsibilities as assigned.

Here's what you'll do:

The Concierge will provide guests with specialized services, to heighten the JUSTIN Experience. This position is responsible for taking reservations for the JUST Inn, The Restaurant, Tours, Seminars, and Private & Group Tastings. The Concierge tends to all JUST Inn guests, customers on-site, as well as thoroughly responding to phone and email inquiries in a prompt manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Uses a positive and clear speaking voice, listens to and understand requests, responds with appropriate actions and provides appropriate information to guests.
• Utilizes multi-tasking skills to execute all reservations for The JUST Inn Bed & Breakfast, daily winery tours/tastings, The Restaurant, event dinners, etc.
• Promptly answers the telephone using a positive and clear voice. Promptly answer emails with a friendly reply.
• Remains calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or busy days.
• Maintains the tour/tasting, large groups and seminar calendars. Maintains the Open Table system.
• Books dinner, lunch, and event reservations with detailed and meaningful notes.
• Responsible for customer sales at the front desk, including register balancing, cash control execution, and banking preparation for deposits within the JUST Inn.
• Sends out appropriate confirmation material to guests.
• Reports on occupancy levels as requested by management.
• Perform all types of concierge services, including, but not limited to, acquire event tickets for guests, arrange guided tours of wine country, coordinate transportation, etc.
• Continuously goes above and beyond to ensure each guest leaves with the best experience
• Other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

• Two (2) years of experience in a hospitality or consumer facing role. Experience in the wine industry a plus.
• Competency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• 50-60 typed words per minute.
• Proven success working in a customer service position or industry.
• Demonstrated strong ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to establish direction, obtain commitment and execute appropriate logistical processes.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be proficient in executing all details.

Summary:

The Tasting Room Supervisor fills in for management as necessary. This position serves as a positive role model for staff, fills in for the Tasting Room Manager and Assistant Manager as needed and assists in the training of new staff. The Tasting Room Supervisor monitors supplies and completes inventory under the direction of the Tasting Room Manager and/or Assistant Tasting Room Manager. This position plays a key role in daily tasting room activities including: positive customer interactions, meeting Wine Society signup goals, customer service, staff training, and positive interaction with employees from other departments (hospitality, marketing, wine society, production, etc.).

Here's What you'll do:

Assist the Tasting Room Management to achieve or exceed financial goals including Wine Society and ISOSCELES Reserve club recruitment, Wine sales, Customer Information.
Perform management duties on Tasting Room Manager and/or Assistant Tasting Room Manager's days off.
Work with the Hospitality Management team to develop and execute a successful community Outreach program to generate high volumes of great customers for the winery.
Conduct inventory monthly under the direction of the Inventory Controller. Ensure that supplies are ordered as needed. (Under the direction of the Tasting Room Manager and/or Assistant Tasting Room Manager).
Provide strategic direction and leadership to 15-30 tasting room employees by effectively communicating and enforcing company policies and procedures, department operations, hiring and training tasting room attendants, and partnering with other departments to develop and promote the JUSTIN brand image and products.
Create and execute engaging, educational, and memorable positive guest experiences.
Resolve guest concerns/complaints using good judgment and tact.
Give direction to staff and delegate responsibility as needed.
Facilitate and promote good communication between all departments (Hospitality, Marketing, Wine Society, Accounting, Production, Housekeeping, etc.).
Assist the Tasting Room Manager to maintain clean and tidy work areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelors or equivalent experience and two (2) years retail sales experience with responsibility for managing a team. Experience in the wine industry required.

Opolo Vineyards is seeking harvest cellar interns to join our team for the 2017 harvest season. As a harvest cellar intern you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of crush activities while learning from a highly motivated and dynamic production team.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Vineyard sampling
• Running crush equipment
• Sorting fruit
• Barrel work
• Cap management
• Press operations
• Juice/wine transfers
• Additions and inoculations
• Daily brix, temperature and pH measurement of vineyard samples
• Monitoring fermentations (Brix, Temp)
• Assist with draining and pressing
• Equipment sanitization/cleaning
• All other harvest related duties as required

Prior harvest experience is desired but not essential. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail driven individuals who possess an aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates should have good communication skills, be reliable, punctual, prepared to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, day shift, night shift, and holidays. Students must take off fall quarter to be eligible for harvest internship position at Opolo Vineyards.

All candidates will need to be fit and capable of working long hours, lift weights up to 50lbs, and endure extended periods of time walking, standing and climbing ladders. All safety protocols must be adhered to while employed by Opolo Vineyards. The period of employment will likely extend from late July through to the beginning of November. Candidate must have reliable means of transportation and a clean driving record.
