Tasting Room Manager Job Description:
As a member of the management team, the Tasting Room Manager is responsible for all Tasting Room operations, including development, implementation and management of Sales and Marketing initiatives, as well as activities directly related to Consumer Sales & Marketing profitability.
Job Duties Include but are not limited to:
Provide outstanding customer service, education and memorable experience for our guests
Manage tasting room staff schedule and ensure break and meal periods are executed
Manage tasting room staff by example
Maintain supplies and retail merchandise
Focus on sales and wine club sign-ups
Stay informed on changing vintages, company history and policies
Handle cash and credit card transactions and reconcile the cash/credit drawer at the end of the day
Complete opening and closing tasks efficiently and delegate as necessary
Oversee tasting room inventory with Operations Manager
Work with Wine Club Manager to grow our wine club, and plan shipments, special events, and communications
Perform regular office administration duties by responding to emails, phone calls, and booking tastings
Develop, implement and manage tasting room outreach, including Sales and Marketing initiatives
Qualifications:
Previous management or hospitality experience in the Wine Industry preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Applications, including Word and Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong grammar skills
Highly developed organizational skills
Ability to keep multiple projects moving forward in the face of competing priorities
Strong teamwork orientation
Self-motivated individual who takes initiative to solve problems
Winery POS (Wine Direct preferred) experience
Must have reliable transportation
Must work weekends (Thursday-Monday) and holidays
Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Responsibilities:

• Industry outreach with other wineries and hospitality outlets: delivering rack cards, attending industry events

Qualifications:
• 2-4 years in related wine hospitality management. Experience in retail, sales and/or restaurant environments a plus.
• Level 1 Sommelier Certification and/or comprehensive understanding of wine fundamentals plus food and consumer insights
• Strong organization and communication skills, both written and oral
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong leadership skills with expertise in developing, inspiring, and building engagement with employees
• Ability to manage constantly changing priorities with a positive attitude and enthusiasm
• Experience with winery POS systems preferred
• Clean driving record
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Position Summary
Under the leadership of the Director of Sales, the Wine Club Manager will ensure a consistent and integrated customer experience both online and in-person that will engage members and translate to organic wine club growth. This position delivers best-in-class concierge service to the winery’s current wine club members and assists to bring in new wine club members. Working with current and prospective members, the Wine Club Manager ensures all questions are answered and that value is provided to each guest on all communication channels: email, phone, and in-person. Responsible for overall management of the Wine Club for all brands, future growth planning, and the Wine Club calendar, this is a crucial cross-departmental position that cares for the winery’s key stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with all DTC channels to plan and execute annual company wine club efforts
• Oversee wine club calendar, campaigns, shipments, and manage their implementation
• Process all enrollment forms including data entry and confirming all information provided
• Manage daily calls, voicemails, and emails
• Maintain current records for each club member and make changes and updates as necessary
• Increase club membership and retention based on annual planning with Director
of Sales and Marketing Manager
• Manage the Wine Club calendar deadlines, ensure will call notifications, email initialization, newsletters, and communication emails are sent in a timely manner
• Execute and maintain expired/declined credit card resolution process and contacting members
• Contribute to the creation of club collateral such as newsletters, event invitations, and other promotional material as needed
• Supervise timely and accurate wine club shipments, re-orders, virtual tastings, and website orders
• Mitigate and respond to all guest service feedback, both positive and constructive
• Partner with Tasting Room Managers on staff training to acquire new club members
• Works with Tasting Room Managers to implement and execute wine club policies and procedures
• Participate in tasting room staff meetings when relevant to wine club
• Planning and participating in all wine club events
• Partner with Sales and Marketing on planning and execution of both internal and external events
• Process orders using WineDirect and Ship Compliant in compliance with all regulations
• Utilize software such as WineDirect, Tock, and Mail Chimp
• Prepare monthly wine club commission report
• Prepare and share reports with company leadership on success of wine club campaigns
• Manage and work in partnership with the Reservation & Wine Club Concierge
• Additional marketing duties as assigned by company leadership

Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least two-years of experience in wine club or similar role is highly desired but not required
• Exceptional speaking and writing skills with the ability to interact as a brand ambassador via phone, email, in person, and at public events
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience with WineDirect and Tock preferred
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow-up and work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
• Must be flexible in working occasional weekends and special events

• Detail oriented to ensure correct products and quantities are loaded and delivered to customers.
• Must be able to climb in and out of the cab and the back of the truck several times per day.
• Deliver a variety wine and packaged goods to a variety of customers.

• Operate a forklift, pallet jack and hand truck. (training provided)
• Excellent social skills are a must as this position has many interactions with customers.
• Must navigate and drive a truck through sometimes difficult circumstances.
