Ep 27: Paso Wine Gets Philosophical – John Munch | Ishka Stanislaus

July 8, 2021

In this episode of Where Wine Takes You we are getting into the philosophy behind winemaking. Ideas and concepts that don’t always have the fundamentals or the numbers behind them, methods that stem from perhaps intuition or feelings, often subjective definitions of connecting to the grapes, the vineyards, the barrels in the process, and how it makes sense, and sometimes doesn’t.

One of the old school names in Paso is John Munch. He’s been here since the late ’70s, and among other great winemakers, almost all have seemed to cross his path. With John, we will meet Ishka Stanislaus of Guyomar Wine Cellars. The majority of Ishka’s grapes go to John Munch for his brand Le Cuvier Winery so we will see just how important that relationship is between grower and producer with this conversation from both these very interesting gentlemen.

We also debut a new feature called, The Travel Paso Spotlight where we take you to the Paso Market Walk.

Original music for WWTY, “Good Company”, performed by Moonshiner Collective.
