Paso Robles made a strong impression at EUREKA NYC, a Wine Institute event that brought together an influential group of wine buyers, sommeliers, educators, media and members of the New York wine trade. Held during New York Climate Week, the event provided an important opportunity to showcase the diversity of California wine, and to put Paso Robles wines directly in front of some of the country’s most influential wine professionals.

The PRWCA was proud to represent Paso Robles with a booth presence featuring wines from five Paso Robles producers, while two additional Paso Robles producers maintained their own tables at the event. Together, the participating wineries presented a broad look at the region, its producers and the wines being made across Paso Robles.

Perhaps most valuable was the opportunity to meet directly with New York-based buyers and members of the trade. Conversations at the event allowed Paso Robles representatives to share not only the wines in the glass, but also the story behind the region—its diverse AVAs, distinctive growing conditions, independent producers and the breadth of varieties being grown here.

That personal connection was particularly important to the Wine Institute, which brought international guests from Canada, Mexico and Latin America to the event. Following EUREKA NYC, Wine Institute shared that the response from the visiting sommeliers was “overwhelmingly positive,” noting that guests appreciated hearing directly from producers and regional representatives who could provide deeper context about the wines and where they come from.

Wine Institute also emphasized that Paso Robles and other California regions played an integral role in demonstrating the diversity and uniqueness of California wine. For Paso Robles, the event was another opportunity to reinforce the region’s place on the national and international stage, and to continue building relationships with the trade in one of the country’s most important wine markets.

With strong participation from Paso Robles wineries and enthusiastic engagement from the trade, EUREKA NYC proved to be a valuable opportunity to pour the wines, tell the story and make connections that can continue well beyond the event.
