In 2004 Jennifer and Victor Abascal came to Paso Robles to realize the dream of creating a vineyard and winery. The project began with tending to Zinfandel vines planted in the 1960s by Richard Sauret and then slowly converting the 26-acre almond orchard to vineyards. Carlotta's Vineyard is a 3.5-acre field blend which all goes into "Spanish Bombs." The next vines planted were Zinfandel and went into Buck's Bit to expand and increase the number of Zin vines. Carter's Crest, a steep west facing slope is planted to Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise and Cinsault.
