AboutFounded in 1735 by the oldest Cognac house, Tonnellerie Leroi boasts rare expertise in the manufacture of oak barrels and vats for wines and spirits. Its geographical location allows it to benefit from the exceptional experience of professionals in the region, artisan coopers from father to son. The selection of oaks is also at the heart of its know-how. The nobility of the material is combined with the mastery of the cooper’s gesture. By taming the heating flame, it exhales all the aromatic subtlety of oak.
Tonnellerie Leroi has been home to outstanding coopers capable of making high quality barrels in the space of a few hours. Drawing on the skills, the creativity and the high standards of the cooperage, the Leroi tanks and vats are made in the Charlois group large format workshop which was founded in Charente since 1870. The unique expertise and experience of the artisan vat makers enables them to produce the finest vats and casks. This workshop is in perfect harmony with the Leroi credo of excellence.
Purchased mainly from State forests managed by the ONF (Office National des Forêts), our oaks are certified as PEFC. After they have been cut into planks 54 and 65 mm thick, they are naturally dried in the open air for between 36 and 48 months.
Having studied the exact requirements of your project (end use of the vats, choice of accessories, site constraints) we will draw up the complete specifications in conjunction with our artisan coopers.
