AboutTerranean Wines is the intimate project of husband-and-wife winemakers Alex and Ryan Kemp, passionately dedicated to small-lot Grenache from the wild, calcareous westside hills of Paso Robles.
"Terranean"—a name we coined—blends "terroir" (that indelible sense of place from soil, climate, and vine) with "Mediterranean" (the sun-drenched, garrigue-scented origins of Grenache). It captures our pursuit of ethereal, aromatic, mineral-driven wines that echo Paso's coastal breezes and limestone-rich earth while honoring the grape's resilient Mediterranean heritage. With deep experience at esteemed estates—Alex as winemaker at Brecon Estate, Ryan as associate winemaker at Adelaida Vineyards & Winery—we craft transparent, evocative expressions: never the most opulent, but layered with tension, savoriness, and profound place. Single-vineyard bottlings like Coakley and G2 offer site-specific depth and longevity; the Terranean blend delivers bright, spicy joy for the table today.
Wines are released exclusively through our mailing list, with private tastings by appointment for those seeking a personal dive.
In Paso Robles, taste us by the glass at S’aranella or by the bottle at Les Petites Canailles and Gravesend—easy entry points to our world.
We pour our hearts into every bottle. If our wines speak to you, we’d love to stay in touch through the mailing list and perhaps share one at your table someday.
