    Tablas Creek Vineyard is a pioneer of California’s Rhone movement, and the first Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) vineyard in the world.

    In 1989, after a decades-long friendship, the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands founded Tablas Creek in the calcareous Adelaida District of Paso Robles, chosen for its similarities to Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Sixteen Rhone varieties, including nine never before used in California, were imported from Beaucastel and made available to the wine community, helping kick off the "Rhone Ranger" movement. Tablas Creek remains the only winery outside the Rhone to have the full collection of Chateauneuf-du-Pape grapes, and tasting these as rare varietal bottlings is one highlight of visiting the estate.

    Tablas Creek has been organic since inception, Biodynamic since 2017, and in 2020 became the world's first ROC vineyard, with rigorous commitments to soil health, animal welfare, and farmworker fairness. Specific efforts include an on-site flock of 150+ sheep, along with reduced tilling, hundreds of fruit trees and native shrubs that provide habitat, and wide-spaced, dry-farmed vines.

    We welcome guests at any level for guided, seated tastings at your own private table on our patio or bar seats in our tasting room. Choose from classic (mixed), all-red, and all-white flight tastings of our Rhone-style wines. Tasting appointments are encouraged but we're happy to take walk-ins and usually have space.
