Epoch: ĕp´ǒk - pronounced "epic" 1. A period of grand or remarkable events. 2. A division of geologic time.
Founded in 2004 by geologists, Bill and Liz Armstrong, Epoch is an ultra-premium producer of wines from Rhone, Zinfandel, and Tempranillo varieties grown on their three west Paso Robles estate vineyards – Paderewski, Catapult, and York Mountain. Winemaker, Jordan Fiorentini, carefully crafts these highly-rated wines utilizing organic and biodynamic practices. Epoch’s Winery and Tasting Room are located off of 46 West at the historic York Mountain property, once home to one of the first bonded wineries on the Central Coast, and their Paderewski Vineyard was once owned, farmed, and cherished by Polish Prime Minister and famed pianist, Ignacy Jan Paderewski in the early 1900s. As the steward of both of these integral pieces of Paso Robles history, Epoch is committed to the land it cherishes, the quality wines crafted, and the rich legacies now shared with the next generation of Epoch drinkers.
We pinch ourselves daily that we get to call this little slice of heaven our home. Tucked away amongst Eucalyptus and Redwood trees, there is just something magical about this property. In 2016, we completed the long-awaited restoration of the old York Mountain Winery into our new Tasting Room. Utilizing as many bricks and beams from the original winery as possible, we are so excited to share our historic home with all of you.
All of our fruit is estate-grown, coming from two specific and unique sites which we purchased & planted: Paderewski Vineyard and Catapult Vineyard in west Paso. Through carefully managed, non-invasive farming, we aim to bring the complex character of our vineyards and their terroir into each bottle of Epoch Estate Wines.
