The biggest little restaurant in downtown Paso Robles, Roots on Railroad is essentially a derailed food truck offering street food made with the high standards held by upscale restaurants. Ingredients are carefully/locally sourced, and most everything on the menu is handmade in-house. Specialties include the Smash Burger, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Tri-Tip Sandwich, and of course the award-winning New England style Lobster Roll.

Chef/Owner Chris Beckett grew up cooking family meals, continually honing his ability and palate through a willingness to try new things and get creative. No challenge was too intimidating, even early on; by age nine he had developed his own recipes and techniques, which were later sharpened at Le Cordon Bleu. Chris then spent over two decades putting down roots on the Central Coast, cheffing at such notables as Fish Gaucho, The Crooked Kilt (now Pappy MacGregor's), Cafe Della Via, and Schooners. "I learned so much working with partners in those early years, and I am over-the-moon proud that the Paso community has welcomed Roots on Railroad with such open arms. I am truly living the dream!"
